PANMOBIL's barcode scanner and RFID reader has automatized certain processes useful to Congress and hosting services in general. LambdaLogic has created new methods for managing events and members using barcode and RFID technology from PANMOBIL.
The corporation from Berlin, LambdaLogic Information Systems GmbH, develops and sells system solutions to member management. The company provides solutions in the area of entry-point/access control that are both flexible and cost-efficient, and support barcode as well as RFID technology.
Event management: security control over server without losing time
RFID tags with the attendee's ID will either be integrated into a name tag, or badge, or alternatively the badges themselves can be printed with barcodes. At the security check-point upon entry, the SCANNDYBasic or smartSCANNDY barcode scanners and RFID readers will read the attendee's ID to check for validation. Upon a successful scan, the scanner will give off an optical and acoustic signal, and as an option, also a vibration signal, so that any unauthorized persons attempting to gain entry will be immediately disclosed.
The processing of the entry request and the collected contacts are followed off from a server. It is from here that the scanner communicates over Bluetooth with the Access Server, which in turn establishes a connection through a local network or the internet to the Host Server. The server is provided somewhere in the local network, and a response from the server is literally available in less than a second. Due to the SCANNDY's small need of electricity power, the batteries will not need to be charged during the event itself. The system has already been implemented by events with more than 1,000 members and by events with over 20 locations within the event.
Barcode and RFID
Regarding barcodes, RFID technology literally accelerates the attendee registration and handling at an event, a more precise tracing system of the attendance flow and also makes possible detailed event reports. Most RFID solutions are however high in investment costs, and especially for time-confined set-ups of stationary RFID capturing devices, which involves much technics, installations, and other costs, proving itself as not flexible enough.
The mobile barcode scanners and RFID readers that LambdaLogic employed were manufactured by the German company PANMOBIL. These devices provide for a dynamic, easily-implementable alternative that not only work in different cities for the registration but also are advantageous and cost and flexibility.
Antonczik of K.I.T. GmbH Association & Conference Management Group & Co. KG has already tested the LambdaLogic solution and sees the advantages of the device, in particular how easy it was to use.
“As much as the SCANNDY and smartSCANNDY are small, they save space and stay well put in the hand.
Because of the uncomplicated operating of the device, we succeeded in saving time and money, for even untrained personell dealt with the scanners right on their first go's.
In addition, we can also make the scanner stationary with its swan neck-rack.”
Extended benefits with the mobility and manufacturer's modules
The direct data transfer and the processing provides attendees and hosts further additional benefits. Self-service terminals can also issue attendee certificates during the event. The mobile implementation of the SCANNDY and smartSCANNDY also provides a variety of possibilities for the successful measuring of marketing actions. These devices can also capture the visitor's contact data and set it against certain product questions or surveys.
For such a task, LambdaLogic provides a corresponding manufacturer's module called “LeadCatpture.”
