The city Weiden in Bavaria, Germany came up with a special idea for Eastern. A city wide search for Easter eggs made of paper with QR-Codes. Whoever finds those eggs in the participating stores collects voucher codes for their purchase. The cities' marketing department wants to combine the Online-shopping with the Store-shopping in a very smart way.
Retail Store-Shopping is still more important than Online Shopping
The principle behind the Easter eggs hunting with QR-Code is simple, but has a big effect, reportsOberpfalz TV. The result shows the crowd of visitors that came out for shopping in the promotion week from the 19th to the 26th of March. Everyone had a smartphone in their hands looking for a paper Easter egg with the QR-Code in participating stores. After scanning the QR-Codes with the smartphones you get a discount voucher which can be used at the cashier for the purchase.
"With this campaign we want to combine the world of online trading and the world of retail stores and get through to the young targeting groups, says Andrea Schild-Janker from the City Marketing of Weiden, Germany. On the one hand for customers the Retail shopping experience and the service are still two very important facts compared to Online shopping. On the other hand customers get all the information about a product online and come to the stores to actually buy them. This shopping behavior needs a better combination in the future according to the business men from Weiden, Germany. The Easter Egg Hunt 2.0 is a helpful beginning.
